Who are the Emricks?

Meet Dana and Ross!  Our team had the pleasure of helping this adorable couple not only sell their individual homes but also help them purchase their dream home!  Ross and Dana are both from Findlay, although they met in Columbus at a Rock City Church life group. Ross has a career in investment management for Meeder Investment and Dana works for Seamless.AI in marketing. Their hobbies include home remodelling and gardening, as well as spending time with family and friends.   We invite you to read about their buying and selling real estate journey with our team.  It will surely bring a smile to your face!

Why was this the time for you to sell and buy?

We were newlyweds as of New Year's Eve 2020, and before getting married, we both owned a home. Once we moved in together, we knew one of our houses had to go, and we likely needed to be looking for a bigger one to combine our lives. All the while, COVID hit, and the first few months of our marriage, we were quarantined! We took that time to finish up remodelling both homes.

What were you looking for in a real estate team?

We were referred to Angelina Fox-Smith & Company and immediately fell in love with how the team operated and understood our needs. Before we knew it, they had a buyer ready to go for the old house and we sold it before we staged it AND before it even hit the market! We felt so lucky to have sold that house during quarantine but we had no idea the best was yet to come!!

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet enim. Etiam ullamcorper.

What surprised you most about your experience?

Shortly after we sold the 1st home, the team helped us find our dream home in the country and secured the offer in under 24 hours!!  Just to remind you, this was all during the height of COVID. Although there were many sleepless nights and stressful days, the team ensured a flawless process. All three of our transactions were smooth sailing, and not once, did we have to compromise a single thing "because of COVID" or otherwise.

What were you looking for in a new home?

Since we both owned a house before getting married, we were looking for double the house for storage. We knew we wanted to be outside the city so we could enjoy the peace of the country, sunsets, and additional land. This house spoke to us the minute we saw it. The farmhouse-feel met by the open fields and sunset was unmatched. We feel there is so much potential here to make significant upgrades that will increase the value of the home, should we sell in the future.

What advice do you have for a new buyer?

We recommend exploring the areas you're looking in. Meet the neighbors next door. Do research on the school district and tour the surrounding area. Community is everything, and we are lucky to already be getting along so well in ours.

The Emrick's Top Selling Tip:

Our advice is to make sure you work with a smart and reputable team with a large network. You might be tempted to sell without a realtor or use a realtor because they're a friend, but we wouldn't recommend either. Be smart about choosing your business partner, and you'll never lift a finger. It's also important to give yourself 6-12 months to prep your house for the market. You'll be surprised how much a little TLC or a few home improvements could increase the value of your home by $10k or even $20k. If possible, give yourself time to make a little more money. It's also much less stressful to have a game plan in place.

What advice would you give about renovating a home?

Don't try to do everything at once. Start with small, manageable pieces. This way, you don't get overwhelmed or go through your budget too quickly. It's also important to have a goal - why are you renovating? This will help you determine the best place to start and why. What will make the most impact for your buck? Last, if you don't know how to do something, just ask. Trying to figure something out yourself could do more harm than good!
